On Sunday, September 12, St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church, Fair- field, North Dakota and St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Belfield, North Dakota hosted the Jubilee Icon of the Protection of the Mother of God, commemorating the Fiftieth Anniversary of the establishment of the Enarchy of St. Nicholas.

Prior to each Divine Liturgy the icon was enthroned on the tetrapod. Father Taras Miles, pastor of both parishes, gave a brief explanation of the meaning and significance of the icon. At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgies the faithful came forward to venerate the icon.

Fittingly enough the icon came to these North Dakota parishes on the Leave-taking of the Feast of the Nativity of the Mother of God. The icon was written by Fr. Damian Higgins who was

Father Taras' novice master at Mt. Tabor Monastery in Redwood Valley, California.

Before arriving in North Dakota the Jubilee Icon had been at Transfiguration of Our Lord Church in Denver Colorado. After leaving Belfield, the icon was sent to Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Wilton, North Dakota, and St. Michael's Church in Minot, North Dakota, where Fr. George

Pruys serves as pastor. From there the Jubilee icon was sent to St. Constantine Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and St. Paul Church in St. Paul, Minnesota, where Canon Michael Stelmach is pastor.
